Vi
Vi Reichel (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist working with moving images, new media and movement. She explores long-term natural changes, ecological narratives and movement practices that blur the boundaries between art, technology and geography.
In her practice, she always develops a body-based and deeply embodied approach to relate to the unknown, more-than-human world, and ongoing processes across time and space. She encounters the world through movement. For her, everything is in motion, and her work invites the spectator to move with it. Fascinated by subtle shifts, she explores them with care and makes them tangible.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at Galeria -m (Poland), Emerging Exits | Diogenes Bunker (The Netherlands), SIM Residency (Iceland) and Melting Points (London).
After 12 years of competitive figure skating, she continued her exploration of movement and its relation to the body in contemporary dance at Tanztheater Leipzig. In 2023, she completed her bachelor's degree in Physical Geography at the University of Leipzig, specialising in the remote sensing analysis of forest fires and began studying Moving Image and Design, Art & Technology at ArtEZ University of the Arts.
In her practice, she always develops a personal approach to relate to the unknown, more-than-human world, and ongoing processes across time and space. It is the little things that fascinate her and which she explores with care.
